Santa Fe: a top 10 city for retirement

Santa Fe real estate:  Not sure if anyone reading this blog has ever been to Santa Fe, New Mexico but if you love sunshine, friendly people, great food, a medium size city with a small town flavor, and don’t mind bragging, on occasion, that you live or plan to live in a top 10 city for retirement folks, Santa Fe is one place you should consider. Oh sure, you might hear scuttlebutt about Santa Fe having signs on some streets that say: Scorpion Crossing, Slow Down, but like most desert areas, these lovely creatures with the curved tail (stinger included) are not as dangerous as everyone says. The little ones, yes. Big ones, no.

You might also be interested to know that Santa Fe living, in terms of single family homes, is not as pricey as you think. Fact is, in March of 2011, the median price for a home hovered around $392,000. Not bad considering you get the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the desert, sunrise and sunsets included, and live in one of the top-notch retirement communities in the country. But wait, there’s more.

Here’s something you didn’t know. Santa Fe was recently placed on the top 10 housing markets list for the next 10 years. Yikes! Moody’s Economy.com did an analysis of employment and population data together with industry trends, and the Santa Fe real estate market came in at number eight. Who knew! And we haven’t even touched on the historic and cultural atmosphere you’ll find when you buy, rent or just pass through the area. So, if you’re ready for the journey, let’s start.

Santa Fe placed #2 in the nation as the best place to live. Fresh, clean air surrounded by over 1.6 milliion acres of national forest that can be used for hiking, camping, and, believe it or not, skiing. Santa Fe was also #2 for air quality. Buying Santa Fe real estate offers cultural diversity, terrific downtown areas, beautiful architecture with a Spanish touch, and a strong commitment to protecting the character of Santa Fe and it’s real estate.
